This dish probably has a zillion names elsewhere. It's so generic, so variable that it can't not have been given a proper name by someone.
I happen to like "vug" because it evokes images of Klingons.
But I digress.
The basic premise of vug is that you make a kind of stew using hamburger, tomato sauce, and whatever vegetables you have lying around. Vug-able vegetables include:
All are good; none are mandatory.
You will need some kind of tomato-type sauce. Tomato paste, diced tomatoes, or even canned spaghetti sauce are all good.
Start your hamburger browning in a skillet. While that's going on, start chopping any fresh vegetables you have. Thaw the ones that are frozen, if that's what you're using.
Once the hamburger is browned, stir in the vegetables. Cover. Uncover the pan now and then; stir the vegetables around.
Once the vegetables are cooked to your liking, add the tomato sauce, enough to cover it. If your tomato sauce is unseasoned (or not seasoned enough...) you may wish to add garlic, basil, and perhaps a little thyme. A dash of cinnamon is also good.
